How Do Our Velux Skylights Work?
At Energy Efficiency Centre we specialise in VELUX skylights and are a VELUX recommended installer. Our skylights create a clear view to the sky and are essentially a window on your roof.
Our models can be placed in pitched or flat roofs and raked ceilings and are a great way to create a fresh living space.
One of the stand out features is the fresh breeze and natural ventilation that can be created by our opening skylights which act like an openable window in your ceiling. Given that the windows are placed on the roof, they maximise the natural ventilation produced by creating a draft at much higher location than wall mounted windows. This can be especially useful above showers and in kitchens. Flyscreens come as standard on all opening skylights.

How Much Do Skylights Cost?
Prices start at around the $2,000 dollar mark which includes fitting the window to the roof and creating a framed and gyprock lined shaft to ceiling level.

Sun Tunnels and Tubular Skylights
What is a Sun Tunnel and How Does It Work?
Velux sun tunnels and our other tubular skylight models are designed to fit into smaller, difficult to reach locations in your roof space and can be used to brighten smaller spaces in your home such as a walk in robe, small bathroom, hallway or stairwell.
The tubular skylight shaft can either be rigid or flexible depending upon the area in question. If there are obstructions in the roof space, a flexible shaft is usually the answer.
Where the roof space allows for it or the skylight will be placed on a south facing roof, a rigid shaft unit will usually be the right choice due to their greatly superior light output compared with a flexible unit.
How Much Does a Sun Tunnel Cost?
Prices start around the $700 dollar mark for a flexible shaft unit and just over $1,000 for a rigid shaft unit (flexible vs rigid discussed below). These prices include supply and installation.
Our knowledgeable team at EEC can provide all the technical advice on which type of sun tunnel or tubular skylight would best suit your room.
